DECEMBER 1, 2022: Yesterday was Giving Tuesday. Often described as a global day of giving or a global generosity movement, Giving Tuesday was founded to “transform the world through radical generosity.” It’s held each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Thanks to your support last year, we were able to increase access to technology, equipping every student with the use of their own laptop. As we finally shift back into in-person learning, we hope to resume the many experiential learning programs that make Renaissance such a special part of the Jackson Heights community. That’s why our Giving Tuesday focus for 2022 is RENSIZZLE.
“RENSIZZLE” is the unique-to-Renaissance experiential learning program offered annually to all students. For one week, traditional classroom instruction is suspended in favor of five-sensory learning by doing. Past hands-on units have included photography, geology, culinary arts, musical theater, permaculture, and robotics. Every student at Renaissance participates in Rensizzle, from kindergarten to twelfth grade, connecting classroom concepts to real-world scenarios. With Rensizzle, our students learn firsthand that we can all be lifelong learners once we see the world as a classroom without walls.
As the only school whose founding mission is to bring about a “Renaissance in the City of New York,” TRCS has always supported hands-on learning using the vast resources of all five boroughs to enrich our core curriculum. Through Rensizzle, we deepen and broaden our commitment to that philosophy.
This is an enormous commitment for our school and so this Giving Tuesday we are asking for your support. The good news is the non-profit Friends of Renaissance is matching every dollar, dollar for dollar! Your $20 donation becomes $40; your $50 donation becomes $100! Because your donation is also tax deductible, everyone gets to benefit from your generosity of spirit.
