[Jackson Heights, Queens]: The 2022-2023 admissions lottery for Community District 30’s Renaissance Charter School was held Friday, April 8, 2022, at 6 pm.
“It’s always exciting to present lottery winners’ names,” said Director of Development Peggy Heeney, who conducted the 23rd lottery in the charter school’s history. Seats in prekindergarten, kindergarten, fifth grade and ninth grade were available. As in previous years, the number of applications exceeded available seats. Because priority is given annually to siblings, district residents, and children of staff, applicants from outside Community District 30 were automatically placed on the waiting list.
The number of seats available each year is also determined by how many children move up to the next grade and if children leave the school. Only applications received by the April 1 deadline were included in this lottery.
Eleven (11) seats out of 18 were offered for the Pre-Kindergarten class for 71 CSD 30 applicants out of a total 190 total citywide applicants.
Five (5) lottery seats were available for 118 CSD 30 applicants out of a total of 263 applications citywide in Kindergarten.
Of the 60 5th Grade seats, 26 lottery seats were available for 45 CSD 30 applicants out of a total of 18 citywide applications.
Two lottery seats were available for 9th grade for 84 CSD 30 applicants out of a total of 240 citywide applications.
